BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- China's flat-panel display industry is leaping forward to high-quality development, reported Securities Daily Monday.

According to Lei Peng, deputy director-general with the Department of High and New Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, his department will further support scientific and technological research in the display field during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Joint layouts concerning materials, information and manufacturing will be made in the national key research and development (R&D) programs, said Lei at a forum on high-quality development of the display industry held by the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) recently in Chinese capital city Beijing.

Currently, China's flat-panel display industry boasts the largest scale worldwide, and China's new display industry, covering terminal applications, panels, packaging, chips, core materials and equipment enterprises, is injecting sustained momentum into the global industrial chain.

At present, China is the largest manufacturing base and consumer market of LED industry in the world, and a complete industrial cluster has taken shape in China, which brings industrial chain and cost advantages.

Besides, in the era of digital economy, there will be more visualization scenarios which have higher requirements for display resolution, energy consumption, size, and shape, and huge prospects lie in the future market.

The upstream and downstream enterprises of China's display industry chain are accelerating their participation in the R&D of MiniLED display which has begun to take shape in industry chain.

Traditional panel and semiconductor companies in China like BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (000725.SZ) and San'an Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (600703.SH) have built or are building MiniLED panel production lines, and Konka Group, Sichuan Changhong Electric Co., Ltd. (600839.SH) and other complete machine manufacturers have taken MiniLED as main research direction.

Sichuan Changhong Electric Co., Ltd. recently just released an 86-inch MiniLED true 8K TV.

The accelerated mass production and popularity of MiniLED, a key display technology, will also affect the future panel market, and MniLED TV may enter its first year of commercial use this year.
